Dear visitors, welcome to our town, Chania. The city of Chania is located at the western part of Crete and at the southern part of Greece.
Crete is the biggest island of Greece and the 5th biggest island of the Mediterranean, with an extent of 8500 square kilometers. Crete has got four counties, Chania – Rethemnon – Heraklion – Lasithi and 1100 km coasts from witch the 1/3 is located in Chania. Some of them are “Mpalos”, “Elafonisi”, “Falasarna”, “Sougia”, “Palaioxora” etc. which are at the first 10 most beautiful beaches in Greece and in 20 most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean.
Except from its magnificent beaches, Chania has also got a graphic and full of green city with a lot of beautiful places you can visit. Ancient cities (Falasarna, Aptera etc.), old historical monasteries (Ag.Triada, Gouverneto etc.), lots of museums (Historical, War, Naval etc.) and other interesting sightseeing with the “Old Venetian port” that stands out. In the larger are of Chania, which is 2500 square kilometers, exist many graphic villages with beautiful beaches and historical locations as well as regions with unbelievable richness of its nature, as the “Gorge of Samaria”. This gorges is one of the largest natural gorges in the world with an incredible wildlife that spans in a 16 km walk in the heart of nature itself. It is visited by more than 300 thousand people a year, from all over the world.
Also Chania and in general Crete, is reputed for its hospitality as well as its always delicious Mediterranean nutrition.
